KHAR: A woman was injured in a landmine explosion in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur Agency here on Sunday, officials said.

They said that the incident occurred on the Pak-Afghan border in Kakga Shagai locality, some 35 kilometers northwest of Khar, the agency headquarters.

They said that a woman identified as Mashanga Bibi, 45, was working in a field when she stepped on a landmine. According to the local people, a leg of the woman was blown up in the explosion.

After the blast, local people rushed to the site and shifted the injured woman to the agency headquarters hospital in Khar.

According to an official at the hospital, the condition of the injured was critical.

No one has claimed responsibility for the incident. However, the local administration has started investigation into the incident.
