Motihari: The East Champaran and the Dhanbad (Jharkhand) police on Saturday night jointly conducted raid at a house at Bijbani village under Jitana police station and recovered 202 costly cellphones and tablets worth Rs 28 lakh which were stolen by burglars from the shops at Dhanbad and Chaibasa in Jharkhand last week. Police arrested six criminals, including gang leader Rambabu Rai from Bijbani, and were taken away on transit remand by the Jharkhand police.
East Champaran SP Sunil Kumar said on Sunday the burglars, known as shutter ‘katwa’ gang of Ghorasan, went to Chaibasa and committed burglary at a Nokia shop and stole 30 cellphones and tablets worth Rs 3 lakh. Thereafter the gang members reached Dhanbad and stole 172 cellphones and tablets of Samsung on December 22 from Shyam electronic store located on Bank Road. The Dhanbad police, after investigation of case, reached Ghorasan for recovery of stolen goods and arrest burglars. SP Kumar said the recovered items were handed over to Ashok Kumar Singh, SHO, Dhanbad police station.
