Surat based firm develops laser technology to cut, polish diamonds(video)

Sahajanand Technologies (Pvt) Limited in Gujarat developed laser technology to cut and polish diamonds hoping to increase production and reduce human errors. The firm has developed the latest technology, which cuts and polishes diamonds using a high intensity laser beam. The shape of the diamond is selected on computer based design software. Most of the diamonds are polished by people using microscopes and hand cutters. Chief executive officer of firm, Rahul Gaywala, said that this technology would help Indian diamond industry by providing better production and diamond quality. The managing director of the firm, Dhiraj Vasoya, said they were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.
