Odama to politicians: Spare Uganda from chaos in 2016

The Archbishop Odama says Ugandans are tired of violence orchestrated by self seekers.
Gulu- Archbishop John Baptist Odama of Gulu Archdiocese, has asked all those with ambitions to contest in the 2016 general election, to spare the country from the politics of chaos.
Preaching to the congregation on Christmas at Holy Rosary Church in Gulu Town, Archbishop Odama said Ugandans are now tired of politicians who have a mentality of creating chaos for the country rather than peaceful coexistence for development.
“We appeal to all of you [politicians] who want to aspire for various positions in the 2016 general election to spare this nation from trouble. Our country has suffered a lot and we are tired of politics that drags us into war,” he said.
He said politicians should also take this season to apologise and repent to the masses on some of the wrongs they have committed.
Archbishop Odama also urged other people to repent and forgive their adversaries.
“I have ever knelt down to ask forgiveness on behalf of those whose lives were destroyed during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency led by Joseph Kony. I expect leaders to also do the same for reconciliation with the masses,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bishop Johnson Gakumba of northern Uganda Diocese, while preaching at St Philip’s Church in Gulu, asked Ugandans not to elect leaders who are not believers because they are liars.
“Many leaders have not delivered services to their people as they promised during the campaigns, simply because they are not God-fearing, they do not know the impact of failing to deliver on their promises,” he said.
