‘Azad’s dream of grand alliance won’t come true’

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came down heavily against the idea of a grand alliance in J&K on Saturday, saying that Ghulam Nabi Azad’s dream to be part of the government will not come true. Azad had recently floated the idea of an alliance between PDP, NC and Congress.

“Without BJP it is not possible to form government in J&K. We have received the letter from the state governor about the formation of government. We are finalising the modalities and the new government will start functioning very shortly,“ said Member of Parliament and J&K affairs incharge Avinash Rai Khanna. BJP has won 25 of 87 seats, three less than the PDP. Both are well short of the halfway mark at 44 seats and need allies.
