CM launches free WiFi at Junagadh, dedicates Rs 6247 lakh works

Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel today launched free-of-cost WiFi services at historical city of Junagadh and dedicated as many as 73 public works of Rs. 6247-lakh to the citizens. With launching of this WiFi services, the historical city has found itself on the digital-map.

In the first-phase, the WiFi services are launched at selected places – District Collector’s office and historical ‘Narshi Mehta’ lake, only.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister appealed to the citizens to visit the religious places like Junagadh and others as the tourist as well as religion spots.

These historical and religious places have enough attraction for the tourists.

During her one-day visit to the city, she dedicated as many as 73 public works such as four-lane road between Damodar Kund and Khakh-chowk, Sheela Lekh of

King-Ashoka, historical ‘Taj Manzil Museum’ and others done at the total cost of
Rs. 6247-lakh to the citizens.

Amid the ear-deafening chanting of vedic mantras and shlokas, the Chief Minister took blessing from the saints and performed traditional arti of Shiv-Parvati in the foothills of Girnar.

The Chief Minister said, the Gujarat Government has made 33% reservation for the women in the Gujarat police force. We have received an overwhelming response from young women for joining the police services with over one-lakh applications to serve the nation and people.

Mrs. Patel had also urged the saint to carry the nation-wide Swachhta Abhiyaan to the people to gift a “Clean India” to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth-anniversary in year-2019.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the citizen to take up ‘Toilet in every home’ abhiyaan to create a healthy and clean society. The people must also come forward in eradicating the evil of malnutrition from the society.

She said, the state government is prepared to take care of the last common man of the society and uplift them. Thus, we have launched a scheme for 120 lakh unorganized labourers from 20 different places across the state on December 25, 2014.

In response to Chief Minister’s appeal, a donation of nearly Rs 95-lakh was collected for ‘Swachhta Nidhi Fund’ from local prominent citizens and saints.

In another programme, Mrs. Patel had flagged-off ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Vadhavo’ (Save Girl Child, Welcome Girl Child) maha rally in the city. The rally had attracted participation from over 10,000 women, giving a strong signal that women are now aware about the cause.

Addressing the rally, the Chief Minister said, Gujarat Government’s efforts for ‘Saving Girl Child’ has given good results as the girl-child birth ratio of 804 against 1000 baby-boy in year 2001 has improved to 904 in year 2011. However, we have to still bridge this gap, she added.

The Chief Minister had also conferred a cash reward of Rs10,000/- to a couple for giving a birth to two girl-child. The cash reward has been initiated by the Kadva Patidar Samaj to encourage the saving of the girl-child in the society.

Mrs. Patel had also honoured Dr. Anitaben Katariya and Ms Pushpaben Vachhani (Teacher) with conferring of ‘Uma Nari Ratna’ awards for their remarkable contributions in Save Girl Child abhiyaan. She had also handed scholarships to over 400 couples for giving births to girl-child; and 208 young girls from economically weaker families. The Chief Minister had also praised the good works done by the Patel Kelavni Mandal in this matter.

Others who graced the occasions included Gujarat’s Minister of State for Agriculture Mr. Jasabhai Barad, Junagadh’s city mayor Mr. Jitubhai Hirpara, in-charge secretary Mr. Vipul Mitra, MLAs – Mr. Mahendrabhai Mashroo, Mr. Arvindbhai Ladani, Member of Parliament Mr. Rajeshbhai Chudasma, prominent saints – Mahant Bharati Bapu, Mahant Indrabharatiji, Shernath Bapu, Tansukh Giri Bapu, and others.
