After witnessing a rare slump in sales in the past couple of years, Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading carmaker is all set to end the year on an unprecedented high. The company is projected to end the calendar year 2014 with about 11.5 lakh vehicle sales, a massive number for any market, anywhere in the world.  MSIL, is also projected to surpass the global business of its parent Suzuki, and should require a whole lot of champagne bottles this New Year to celebrate their grand success.

The company is geared to post a growth of 13% over the previous calendar year, which is a terrific number. What’s more, MSIL is on its course to end the fiscal year with a market share of 45%, an all-time high. That performance calls for a special celebration, especially in the wake of increasing competition from a variety of international carmakers across segments.

2014 was a special year for Maruti Suzuki, with the company launching some very successful new products in the Celerio and the Ciaz. The Ciaz in particular has positioned Maruti rather strongly in the Rs 10 lakh sedan segment where it hasn’t ever been able to establish a strong base. The new Alto K10 AMT has also been received very well by the market. The traditional hits like the Swift and Dzire have been doing strongly as ever and the coming year looks even more promising with relevant products like the S-Cross, YRA hatchback and the YBA compact SUV waiting to further boost the company’s sales.

Further bolstering the company’s presence in the market would be refreshed models such as the Ertiga and DZire. The company also plans to launch a new LCV in the coming year. All these new launches according to company’s executive director for marketing and sales, RS Kalsi, would make Maruti Suzuki’s domestic passenger car sales to grow 5% in the next fiscal year.
