You wouldn't expect a band named The Virginmarys to sweep Delhi off its feet. But the British trio, who performed in Hauz Khas Village recently , sure did. The band is known for its amalgamation of raw, strong vocals, thumping bass line, mean guitar riffs and powerful beats, which makes its music a headbanger's paradise.
The band performed many of their hit numbers like Just a Ride, Dead Man's Shoes, etc, and quickly got their first row of loyal headbangers, as they woke up the punk-rock lover in every Delhiite at the do.

Love at first song: Said Dwiti, an English (Hons) student in DU, “This is the first time I have heard these guys, and I can't believe I haven't heard them before. They are really killing it." Even Chennai-based band Skrat, who opened for The Virginmarys as a part of the Emerge festival, became instant fans.Said Satish, the bassist of the band, “We hadn't heard of the band till the lineup was announced. They are really good. I don't know how they weren't famous here till today . Judging by today's show, they'll have a huge fan base in India."
Sukriti, who had heard them when she was in the UK last year, said, “I love these guys. When I heard they were playing here, I had to come. I dragged a few friends along and even they are loving it. I'm surprised not many people know about them."
The show ended with the audience screaming for an encore as they trio bowed out.
