NEW DELHI: Union health minister J P Nadda on Thursday made a surprise visit to Safdarjung Hospital to inspect cleanliness and patient services. He also cleaned the pavement within the hospital premises with a broom.
Nadda was joined by New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi in the endeavour. Health ministry officials said the minister reached Safdarjung around 8.30am and spent nearly an hour there.
"Hospitals are spaces where cleanliness is of prime importance and I, myself, keep inspecting hospitals to see that they remain clean," Nadda said.
Officials said Nadda visited Safdarjung Hospital campus and met patients in the general wards to know about their health. Besides visiting the wards, the Union health minister also inspected the toilets. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims to make India clean by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
