Seven or more chain-snatching cases reported

Mugging spree continued in various parts of Bengaluru with at least seven or more cases of chain snatching reported in and around the city taking the number of cases to 14 since Wednesday.

Two bike borne men, aged around 25-years, attacked and robbed four women in different incidents and robbed gold chain worth around Rs. five lakh in total on Wednesday.

The duo snatched 20 grams gold chain from Vidya Navaratna, while she was walking near her house in Nagarabhavi on Wednesday. Few minutes later the duo struck Swarnalatha, a home-maker and escaped with 45 grams of gold chain. Swarnalatha was returning from a near by shop in Coconut garden in Nagarabhavi.

Similarly, Sunanda was also robbed in Ramakrsihna extension. The Jnanabharathi police have registered four robbery cases and are investigating the case further.

Lalitha, was also robbed of her 35 grams of gold chain by two motorcycle riders while she was walking near PES college in Chandra Layout.

Cases of chain-snatching on Wednesday

On Wednesday evening, two bike-borne men robbed of a 50-year-old woman of her gold chain weighing 25 grams. The victim identified as Yashodha, was standing in front of her house along with her grandson in C.K. Acchukatu when two bike-borne men snatched her gold chain and sped away.

A 55-year-old resident of Girinagar near Swamy Raghvendra Mutt was robbed of her gold chain weighing 60 grams by two armed bike-borne men. The incident was reported in the evening at around 7.30 p.m.

The city police have instructed the jurisdictional police to step up patrolling to identify the duo who are suspected to be involved in the crimes.
