India vs Australia: Kohli-Dhawan spat will soon be forgotten, says Ganguly

New Delhi: The much publicised dressing room spat between Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan will soon be forgotten, claims former India captain Sourav Ganguly.

On Day four the second Test between Australia and India, Virat Kohli and his Delhi state-mate Shikhar Dhawan got into a spat which needed the intervention of team director Ravi Shastri. Later skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni made the incident public claiming it made everyone tense.

According to reports, a disappointed Virat Kohli blamed Dhawan for his one-run show in the second innings at Gabba. Overnight batsman Dhawan, who sustained an injury during a practice session couldn't start the Day 4's proceedings forcing Indian team to send an unprepared Kohli in the centre.

It's learnt that the Indian vice-captain got few minutes to get himself prepared as Dhawan shared his discomfort only in the eleventh hour. Eventually, India lost the match thanks to yet another batting collapse, thus giving undue prominence to the incident.

Ganguly, 42, known for his smart man-handling during his captaincy reigns said that such dressing 'skirmishes' are not uncommon and he himself faced a similar situation like the one faced by Kohli, reported a leading Indian cricket website.

An unperturbed Ganguly shared his own experience, one that happen in Cape Town, to show that such incidents do happen. "I was in my track-bottoms and after the umpire told Tendulkar that he cannot bat, I had to quickly change and pad up in two minutes and go in. These are not much of an issue," he said.

As predicted by Ganguly, Kolhi and Dhawan have reportedly buried the hatchet ahead of the all-important third Test in Melbourne, starting December 26. The Delhi duo were seen indulging in team banter during Wednesday's net sessions.

India are trailing Australia 0-2 in the four-match series after losing the first two Tests in Adelaide in Brisbane.
