1 killed, 12 injured in road mishap due to poor visibility
JAIPUR: One person was killed while 12 others were injured in a road accident near Chaksu on the city outskirts due to poor visibility in the dense morning fog on Wednesday. The early morning fog also affected normal life and vehicular traffic in many parts of the state even as Sikar remained the coldest where a minimum temperature of 2.5°C was recorded.

In Chaksu, a passenger jeep and a low-floor bus collided head in which one person was killed while 12 others were injured. Police said the possible reason behind the accident was poor visibility during the early morning hours.
Air, road and rail traffic across the state were also affected for the fourth consecutive day. Passengers travelling to Delhi and Mumbai by air during the early morning hours were the worst affected. The operations at the Jaipur airport remained affected till 12 noon and most of the flights landed late. Relatives of the passengers complained lack of communication on the prevailing situation by the airlines authorities. At least 12 early morning flights were affected due to the poor visibility.
Heavy rush of passengers was also seen at Jaipur, Durgapura and Gandhinagar railway stations as dense fog affected the train traffic. At least 13 trains were running late due to the fog. Puja Express was the worst affected as it was almost 8 hours late. “Three trains Ajmer-Sealdah, Sriganganagar-Rishikesh and Jaipur-Allahbad scheduled for Wednesday were cancelled by the NWR authorities,” an official said.
In the city, Jaipurites woke up to another chilly morning as a minimum temperature of 6.6 °C, almost 1 degree below normal, was recorded. Dense fog enveloped Jaipur till 10 am and the visibility was reduced to 200 metres. Thereafter, mild fog prevailed in the city till afternoon. A maximum temperature of 22.6°C was recorded.
Attributing the continued fog to the active western disturbances, the Jaipur Met office said similar conditions will prevail in the state for the next two days.
In Pilani a minimum temperature of 4.8°C was recorded, Jaisalmer experienced 5.4°C, Bikaner 5.8°C, Churu 6°C, Chittorgarh 6.6°C, Sriganganagar 7.9°C, Ajmer 8.5°C, Barmer 8.6°C and a minimum temperature of 10°C was recorded in Kota.
In its forecast, the Met office said fog conditions will prevail in the state in the next couple of days as mercury will take a slight upward swing across the state.
