An Aurora man was sentenced in federal court this week to 54 months in prison after pleading guilty this summer to charges of cocaine possession and money laundering.

Robert Bellender, 39, one of four people indicted in an apparent Denver-area drug ring, was charged in May 2013 before a superseding indictment in June of that year, the Colorado U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wednesday. Bellender pleaded guilty in July.

Federal agents began investigating Bellender in October 2011, after which he sold cocaine to a Drug Enforcement Agency agent on several occasions. Investigators found Bellender was also selling powder and crack cocaine to several others.

Bellender and his co-conspirators purchased and sold at least 20 kilograms of powder cocaine and five kilograms of crack cocaine between October 2011 and May 2013.

Bellender was also ordered by a judge to serve five years on supervised released after his federal prison sentence, the attorney’s office said.
