Market official in held on graft charge

ACB officials on Wednesday arrested M. Kalpana, Selection Grade Special Secretary of Malakpet Agricultural Market Committee, along with her senior assistant G. Mahesh, on charge of receiving Rs. 50,000 bribe from a person.

The accused officer demanded Rs. 1 lakh to award contract for clearing garbage from Gudimalkapur market in city. “At her instance, Mahesh collected the money in their office in Malakpet,” ACB DSP S.K. Chandrashekhar said.

In another case, ACB sleuths seized Rs. 1.95 lakh from 10 persons collecting charges from farmers selling cattle at the weekly market held every Tuesday at Sardarnagar village in Parigi of Ranga Reddy district.
