Top personnel changes at Acer EMEA

Computer and electronics manufacturer Acer has announced that Emmanuel Fromont, corporate vice president and current president of the Pan America operations has been appointed to a new role as president of Acer in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
acerlogo2This development follows the exit, on personal grounds, of Luca Rossi who has been Acer’s president for EMEA for six years. He will work with Fromont to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

In an announcement published on Tuesday, Acer said Sumit Agnihotry, vice president of product marketing in Pan America will succeed Fromont as the president of Acer Pan America. Both appointments will take effect on January 1, 2015.

Fromont joined Acer in 2008 as vice president of Acer EMEA’s Packard Bell division and delivered strong sales growth. Notably, he was responsible for doubling the PC shipments from 2008 to 2010 to reach US$2 billion in revenue. In 2011, Fromont was promoted to president of Acer Pan America, and since then led the highly successful launch of Chromebooks to take the No. 1 position with 42% of U.S. market share(1).

Prior to joining Acer, Fromont served as Packard Bell’s vice president of sales and marketing, and vice president of the company’s Mobility Business Unit. He also has extensive experience in outsourcing from positions held at Hewlett-Packard in the United States and IBM Global Services in France. Fromont was born in 1967.

Sumit Agnihotry is a 16-year veteran of Acer who joined the company in 1998 as product marketing manager and has held positions of increasing importance in Pan America. Between 2000 and 2008, he was responsible for product marketing of mobile PCs, and in 2008, he was appointed vice president for Acer’s entire product portfolio in Pan America. Agnihotry was born in 1977.

“Acer has built a very strong foundation in Pan America under Emmanuel’s leadership and created the right organization needed to continue increasing our momentum in this market in the coming years,” said Sumit Agnihotry of Acer Pan America. “I’m proud to have been a part of this organization for the past 16 years, and I look forward to working with this strong team to bring Acer Pan America to new heights in the future.”

The management changes come at a time when Acer is increasing its momentum. The company has made strong progress throughout Pan America. In addition to its leading position in the fast-growing Chromebook segment in the US, Acer has also taken the number one spot in consumer notebook shipments in Brazil(2), the number two spot in mobile PCs in Canada(3), as well as the number two market share position in mobile PCs in Chile(4). In both EMEA and Western Europe(2), Acer ranks among the top three for total PCs and portable PCs shipments. In the latter region, Acer achieved the highest year-on-year growth rates among the top 5 players in both categories. Acer believes it has the right organization at this time to continue its growing momentum.
