KWAITO STAR MAGEEZ COMMITS SUICIDE

MANZINI – Local kwaito artist Zakhele ‘Mageez’ Vilane committed suicide by hanging himself at his home on Monday.

Information gathered is that the artist, who burst into the kwaito scene at the age of 15, was found hanging in his house already dead.

Family

Family members, including his mother, called the police who arrived at the scene and took him to hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
When this reporter arrived at his home at KaShali, Ngwane Park yesterday, two of the kwaito star’s younger sisters were found and one of them, who was visibly emotional, confirmed the death and refused to comment further on the incident, saying she preferred that her mother should speak about her brother’s death.

When the family was called, they preferred not to say anything on the matter for now.
“We will talk about the issue but not now, kindly contact us tomorrow,” Nomzamo Vilane, Mageez’s elder sister said.
It was also gathered that some family members had gone to Dups for funeral arrangements yesterday morning.

Problems

Reliable sources revealed that the kwaito star had personal problems and had become reserved during his last days.
“He would come to the spaza next to his home and sit with us, however, he would not say anything,” a friend, who is also a neighbour said.

Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the incident and said police were called to the scene by family members.

“Information gathered is that he had personal problems, the police are still investigating the matter,” Assistant Superintendent Mamba said.
