In a press conference held at Hotel Surya in Vadodara on Tuesday, artist Amrut Barot alleged that actor and BJP MP Paresh Rawal’s plays are being procured at much higher price for VADFEST 2015.

Barot said Paresh Rawal’s play Kanji Viruddh Kanji is going to be performed for just Rs. 2.25 lakh two days after its scheduled performance during VADFEST for which organizers are going to pay him Rs. 8 lakh!

Barot also claimed that organizers are going to pay Rs. 3 lakh to Tiku Talsania for his play scheduled to be staged during VADFEST, the original cost of which is just Rs. 90,000.

The press conference was also addressed by other artists like Ashita Sachin Limye, Atul Purohit, Jalendu Dave, Dr. Kalhans Patel, Vikram Patil, Ravin Nayak and brother of Paritosh Goswami Shri Pankaj Goswami(barring Atul Purohit, others are hardly known outside Vadodara).

According to insiders, local artists wanted Rs. 11,000 additional payment per twenty minutes. They wanted a reserved box in every event of VADFEST for local artists. They also wanted publicity of their events at par with the events of international and national artists like Yanni and AR Rehman. VADFEST organizers had heard them and forwarded their demands to managing committee meeting, ahead of which artists called a press conference and made announcement to boycott the event.

It is learnt that, VADFEST organizers were ready to pay more to local artists, but they lacked the art of ego polishing. On the other hand one Vatsala Patil took leadership of local artists and decided to take the matter to media in a bid to spoil the image of the event to settle score with organizers.
