Biking priest Picardal completes climate change bike trek from Baclaran to Iligan

Biking priest Amado Picardal on Tuesday completed his 1,800-kilometer "climate ride" from Baclaran to Iligan City to raise awareness about climate change and to pay tribute to victims of recent typhoons.

A report on MindaNews said Picardal's trip ended at Iligan City at noon, after he said a prayer for victims of Typhoon Sendong.

“Let us not blame God for what man has done to the environment,” Picardal, 60, was quoted by MindaNews as saying.

During his stop in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, Picardal called on the faithful to make efforts against climate change part of their lifestyle.

He said stopping climate change is everyone's business, GMA Northern Mindanao's Kaye Mercado reported.

The priest, who started his "climate ride" in Baclaran last Dec. 10, arrived at the Archbishop's Palace in Cagayan de Oro City and was met by local bikers.

He asked residents of the city not to forget the devastation of recent typhoons including Sendong, Yolanda and Ruby.

"I'm the one that pitches advocacy about sa pag-explain nitong mga super typhoon is not (the) will of God," he said. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
