VADODARA: Fatehgunj police registered an offence on Tuesday in an incident where five rounds were fired in a residential area in the early hours on Monday. The incident took place in Navi Ashapuri area of Navayard.
According to a complaint, unidentified persons opened fire after damaging a car in the residential area. Rajesh Parmar, a resident of Navi Ashapuri, told the police that the window panes of his SUV were shattered.
Parmar said that around three unidentified persons damaged the car which was parked in front of his house.
Parmar has stated that the persons even fired five rounds in the vicinity of the car around 12.30 am on Monday. He found the five used cartridges and took them to the Fatehgunj police station on Monday, but was hesitant to lodge a complaint.
“It was on the insistence of the police that he lodged a complaint. There are reports that the incident was a fallout of a love affair. However, we are investigating the reason,” said assistant commissioner of police, N M Muniya. Residents staying near Parmar’s house suspect that a conflict over an alleged love affair that involved a boy staying in the area might have triggered the incident. Muniya said that the said love affair between a boy from Navayard area and a girl from Gorwa was a two-month-old matter. According to him, the house where the boy’s family stayed was locked for the last 10 days. Muniya added that some persons were also claiming that the girl had stayed at the house too for some days.
