Row between truckers over ore trips
QUEPEM: A row has broken out over transportation of bauxite from Nacqueri-Quitol areas as truck owners from Salcete, Mormugao and Cuncolim have alleged injustice by authorities in allotment of trips.
The truck owners alleged that the authorities have exempted local truckers from Nacqueri-Quitol from the queue system.
Advocate Anacleto Viegas, speaking on behalf of the truck owner's association, alleged bias on the part of authorities despite the demand during meetings with them about uniform trip rates to all trucks and one trip for every truck as per a queue system for equitable business to all truckers.
The non-local truck owners have decided to halt ore transportation till the issue is resolved and justice is meted out to them.
