BHOPAL: General manager of a telecom company abducted from Shivpuri on December 14 by the Gheesa Banjara gang was released in Sheopur district on Tuesday after mounting police pressure forced them to withdraw. “We received a tip-off they were shifting the abducted engineer to Sheopur forests and a police team was dispatched to the spot. Policemen surrounded their hideout and challenged them.
Under pressure, the gangsters dumped the engineer and escaped under the cover of darkness,” said additional SP Sheopur Yashpal Singh Rajput. “The gang recently split and we were constantly receiving intelligence inputs on their movements,” he said.
Earlier, two people, including GM and an employee of Indian Telecom Industries limited (ITLI) were kidnapped from Shivpuri area. The incident took place near Padarkheda railway station, 25 km from district headquarters.
ITLI general manager Jaipal Khalko and an employee, Tulsi, were abducted when they were monitoring the laying of OFC cable for telecom connectivity near railway line 3 km away from Padarkheda police station.
