Volvo celebrates Volvo Ocean Race with the XC60 special sailing-inspired model

Volvo Car Group Middle East & North Africa is celebrating Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15, the world’s most exhilarating ocean adventure, with the launch of the 5th edition of XC60 special sailing-inspired edition in the UAE.

“The XC60 is a timeless model and a very good representation of what Volvo's brand stands for” said Emre Karaer, General Manager of Volvo Car Group Middle East & North Africa.

“The ability to personalise the model with a wide range of accessories has also been an important factor in its success. XC60 is a car that is not only a success today but will continue to be one in future,” added Karaer.

The Volvo Ocean Race identification is displayed on the tread plates and front fenders as well as in the start-up sequence on the infotainment screen of the limited edition XC60.

There is a unique deco inlay, and the load cover is decorated with a Volvo Ocean Race map and logo.

The XC60 Volvo Ocean Race Edition is available in four colours – Ocean Blue II (new colour), Bright Silver, Black Sapphire and Crystal White and features the unique seven-spoke, 18-inch ‘Portunus’ wheel.

The XC60 ocean race edition model comes in an All-Wheel Drive version with a six-cylinder, 3.0-litre T6 engine.

Abu Dhabi is the host port city for the second leg of the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race event from December 12, 2014 until January 3, 2015.

The In-Port Race takes place on January 2, 2015, with the fleet departing to Sanya, China the following day.

The stopover features a fan-friendly Destination Village activation on the Corniche breakwater and multiple concert and entertainment offerings.
