For a fleeting moment literary critic M.K. Sanoo felt he was with his dear friend V.R. Krishna Iyer once again.

Hardly a month into his death, the jurist came alive on Monday; albeit, in wax, thanks to the sculptor and managing director of the celebrity wax statue museum, Sunil Kandalloor.

It was only fitting that the near life-like statue was unveiled by Mr. Sanoo and senior physician C.K. Ramachandran, who had decades-long association with Iyer. The statue was fixed with the jurist’s own hair, dressed in his shirt and dhoti and even wore his spectacles.

In his presidential address, Mayor Tony Chammany said that Kochiites were finding it hard to accept the reality of a city without Iyer. Greater Cochin Development Authority chairman N. Venugopal said that making the cancer centre, which Iyer had pursued steadfastly, would be the fitting memorial for . He also promised support to the celebrity wax museum to be opened at Oberon mall on Wednesday.

Mr. Kandalloor said that he had not received any help from authorities in Kerala in his 16-year long career and thanked Mr. Venugopal for the promised help. He said that the museum was not aimed at minting money but was borne out of his dream to have such a facility in his home state.

The museum would open with 45 wax statues and is expected to touch the 100 mark within a short period.
