2 children found murdered, disfigured in Sangam Vihar

Bodies of both the children were found in the bushes around 10 am on Monday.

Two children, aged 8 and 10, were found murdered, and their faces disfigured, in a jungle in Southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area on Monday night.

The boys, Nazim and Nanhe, had gone missing from their homes on Monday, police said.

According to police, the children were neighbours. On Monday afternoon, they had gone gone to the jungle to bring wood. However, they did not return.

Police said their parents waited till evening, before filing a complaint at the Sangam Vihar police station. A case of kidnapping was registered, police said.

Bodies of both the children were found in the bushes around 10 am on Monday. “Their heads have been smashed and faces disfigured. We have registered a case of murder. Crime teams have inspected the scene and lifted clues. We hope to make arrests soon,” a senior police officer said.

“My brother and his friend came back from school this afternoon. They went out around 3 pm and did not return till dark. My father and brothers began searching for Nazim and Nanhe around 5pm but couldn’t find them. They went to police and filed a missing person’s complaint. My brothers searched for them all evening. They found the bodies in the jungle,” Nazim’s sister Ruksar said.

Nazim’s brother Guddu said he and his relatives found Nazim’s sweater on a bundle of twigs. They then found the bodies with the throats slit and faces smashed.
