Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is likely to attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of Montessori Educational Institutions on December 29.

Director and correspondent of the college V. Koteswaramma said a galaxy of dignitaries, including the Chief Minister, Ministers, two MPs and Vice-Chancellors were expected to attend the event. “We are organising a seminar on ‘Challenges being faced by women working in various fields and solutions’ on December 30, she said, adding that the institute had introduced several courses to benefit girl students since its inception in 1955. “We first started a school for girls and later opened junior, degree, postgraduate, engineering and pharmacy colleges,” she said.

Ms. Koteswaramma said the institute had been trying to get deemed university status for the last several years. A team from the University Grants Commission had visited the campus and examined the facilities. “We are hopeful of getting the deemed status soon,” she said.
