2014-2015 Mercedes Diesel Models Recalled For Possible Oil Leak

Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain 2014 and 2015 BlueTec diesel vehicles to address an issue that could potentially lead to hazardous oil leaks.

The recall of 4,871 E 250 BlueTec sedans and GLK 250 and ML 250 BlueTec SUVs is meant to repair a loose chain-tensioner gasket. The gasket's improper seal could allow oil to leak onto a vehicle's engine.

This creates the potential for an engine-compartment fire. Oil could also drip onto the road surface, creating a potential hazard for other drivers.

Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the gaskets in affected cars free of charge.

The carmaker began mailing notices to owners last week, so the process of replacing the faulty gaskets should get underway soon.
