$27,000,000 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 N.A.R.T. Spyder wins Best of Show at Ninth Annual Festivals of Speed Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes.
Eustis, Florida (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- $27,000,000 Ferrari wins Best of Show at Festivals of Speed Orlando.
Orlando, December , 17 2014: The Festivals of Speed at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes Presented by Fields Auto Group which took place December 5-7 2014 has announced the winner of the Best of Show award going to a rare 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB /N.A.R.T Spyder.
The N.A.R.T. Spyders are extremely rare as only 10 cars were built, all for the United States. The cars were available through a single dealer Luigi Chinetti. N.A.R.T. stood for Chinetti's North American Racing Team. The cars were designed by Sergio Scagletti. Originally it was to be a custom run of 25 cars, but just 10 were built in 1967 and 1968, making the model extremely valuable. The ten NART Spiders used chassis numbers 09437, 09751, 10139, 10219, 10249, 10453, 10691, 10709, 10749, and 11057.
This particular example is silver and was displayed at the Ferrari museum in Italy next to founder, Enzo Ferrari’s desk. It is powered by a 3,285cc V12 engine that produces 300 hp @ 8000 rpm. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension with A arms and coil springs, Borrani wire wheels with knock-off hubs and a rear mounted 5 speed manual transmission. It has a curb weight of 2,456 lbs and a top speed of 155 mph. The car was originally sold by Chinetti Motors in N.Y. for $14,400. A similar car sold in 2013 for $27,500,000. Festivals of Speed President Joe Sabatini had this to say: “The N.A.R.T. Spyders are a very special breed and we are extremely honored to present the Best of Show award to this fine vehicle.” Other unique vehicles include a 1959 250 GT Ferrari California Spyder that won the “Judges Choice" award and a 1905 Thomas Flyer that won the “Hollywood Wheels Race Prepared award.” The ultra-exotic Pagani Huayra was also on display alongside hundreds of exotic vehicles.
Festivals of Speed President Joe Sabatini commissioned nationally known artist Greg Hildebrandt to create a painting of the N.A.R.T for use as the official event poster. The original painting was then sold for $15,000 with 100% of the proceeds going direct to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
