Improve amenities for Ayyappa devotees: Indhu Makkal Katchi

Members of the Indhu Makkal Katchi on Sunday morning staged a protest at the Red Cross Junction here urging the Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments to improve basic amenities for Ayyappa devotees who visit temples in both the States during the pilgrimage.

The 40-odd members said that the governments earned income because of the visit of the devotees. They should plough back the money for improving infrastructure so that the pilgrims had a safe and comfortable journey.

They also urged the Tamil Nadu Government to take steps to subsidise the pilgrims’ bus journey and write to the Central Government to do so on the railway fare. They wanted the Government to construct a choultry in Sabarimala for the welfare of Tamil devotees.
