Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner C. Hari Kiran on Sunday said government offices would be functioning from Medha IT Park near Gannavaram airport and government buildings on Bandar Road.
“The government is mulling various options on shifting the offices,” he said after inaugurating the Grand Modern Supermarket at Benz Circle here. “Activity in the city has gone up considerably after the announcement of the capital. The occupancy ratio at several hotels has also gone up, as politicians, real-estate developers and industrialists have been visiting the city frequently,” he added.
Mr. Hari Kiran said two more budget hotels were coming up on the national highway and Bandar Road. The corporation is also receiving applications seeking permission for setting up commercial establishments.
“We advise developers and land owners to construct buildings without violating norms. They should also install mandatory fire safety equipment in the larger interest of the public,” the VMC chief said. On security systems in commercial establishments, he said the police department was looking into the issue.
