Lahore: The body parts of a 23-year-old suicide bomber, who blew himself up at Wagah border with India last month killing 63 people, were buried at a graveyard here.

"After the identification of the terrorist, the Edhi Foundation yesterday buried the body parts of the terrorist at Miani Sahib graveyard," Lahore police spokesman Niyab Haider said.

The suicide bomber was identified as Hafiz Hanifullah of Mohmand village in Bajaur Agency, the tribal belt of the Kyber Pakhtaun Khawa province.

"The law enforcement agencies have taken the family members of Hanifullah into custody and are investigating. He reportedly had left his house some two years ago and did not return," the police spokesman said.

Hanifullah joined the banned outfit Jamaatul Ahrar and received training in Afghanistan.

A police source said that Hanifullah stayed in a mosque in Pak-India border area for 10 days and made preparations?for the task he was assigned by his handlers.

"The law enforcement agencies have taken the prayer leader of the mosque into custody and interrogating him," he said.

Soon after the blast some 20 suspects had been taken into custody but later 17 of them were released.

"At present some four suspects including the prayer leader are in the custody of the agencies," the source said.

At least 63 people, including women and children, were killed when the suicide attacker detonated a powerful bomb at Wagah in Pakistan minutes after the popular flag-lowering ceremony at the main Indo-Pak land border crossing on November 2.

At least three militant factions had claimed the grizzly bombing.

Al-Qaeda affiliated militant group Jandullah, a splinter group of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was the first to claim responsibility of the attack.

Shortly afterwards, Jamaatul Ahrar said its bomber Hafiz Hanifullah carried out the attack. And later a lesser-known Mahar Mehsud group also claimed responsibility.
