Mystery shrouds death of two youths in Dindori
NASHIK :The death of two youths, who had set up a poultry farm barely two weeks back in Dindori, has left the rural police in a fix as they are clueless about how they died nearly 48 hours ago.
While the police said suffocation caused by a charcoal grill might be the cause of the death, doctors hinted at the possibility of consumption of contaminated liquor.
The two deceased were from Igatpuri and Dindori, respectively, and ran poultry farms in Dindori.
They died under mysterious circumstances in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Another person from Nashik was with the two and is at present undergoing treatment at Nashik Civil Hospital. Doctors attending to him refused to divulge much details though.
The deceased were identified as Chandrakant Kharote (27), a resident of Igatpuri, and Shailesh Shinde (30) of Dindori. According to reports, Kharote and two others, Shashikant Jadhav of Nashik and Rahul Nathe of Igatpuri, had taken a poultry farm at Indore in Dindori taluka on rent. Shailesh Shinde, on the other hand, e had rented another poultry farm in the same area.
On Thursday night, Kharote and Jadhav reached their poultry farm in evening and carried with them lunch boxes they had brought from their respective homes. On their way to the poultry farm, they also purchased liquor from Nashik city.

The Dindori police said Shinde, who ran a rented poultry farm nearby, joined the two. After drinking the liquor and having food, the three called it a day around 11.30 pm.
In the early hours of Friday, the three started feeling uneasy. The police said Kharote and Shinde died on the spot. Nathe, who reached the poultry farm around 10 am, broke open the door that was latched from inside and found Jadhav (23) gasping for life and the bodies of the two others. He immediately contacted the Dindori police, following which Jadhav was rushed to the primary health centre at Talegaon in Dindori. The post-mortem of the two deceased was conducted at the Dindori rural hospital.
Inspector (Dindori police station) Sanjay Shukla said, “Prima facie it appears that the two persons must have died of suffocation. After consuming liquor and having food, the three youths had lit a charcoal grill in the room that was small in size and did not have any ventilation before going to sleep. The low oxygen in the room may have caused their death.”
He added, “Nonetheless, we have sent the viscera of the two deceased for chemical analysis and the reports would be available within a week.”
Doctors treating Shashi Jadhav refused to divulge any details, arguing that it was a medico-legal case. However, they hinted that they might have died because of consumption of contaminated liquor.
Kharote and Jadhav had started the poultry business in Dindori about two weeks ago.
