BJP sowing seeds of discord: Naga Cong
Kohima: Senior Nagaland Congress leader and former state PCC president KV Pusa on Saturday accused BJP of sowing seeds of discord and disunity among different sections of people in the country.
He said a country that propagates secularism is under threat from communal forces like BJP.
Pusa, who had contested the last Lok Sabha polls on a Congress ticket in the state’s lone seat, in a statement warned BJP against taking the country towards ‘disintegration’ due to its anti-people policy.
His statement comes against the backdrop of reports of fringe saffron affiliated outfits trying to organize a mass conversion of Christians and Muslims on Christmas.
The Congress leader also questioned the silence of Nagaland unit of BJP over the issue and the anti-Christian policies of the Centre, led by BJP. He said those who were converted were poor rag-pickers from a slum and many of them had been promised ration cards if they attended the ceremony. They had no idea they were going to be converted to Hinduism, he added.
Religious conversions have become a flashpoint of criticism for BJP since it came to power in May this year. Pusa said the Hindu hardline groups are flexing their muscles under the BJP government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
