Phivolcs: No volcanic quake at Mayon in last 24 hrs

No volcanic quake was recorded at restive Mayon Volcano in the last 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said Sunday.

In its 8 a.m. update, Phivolcs said there was weak to moderate steaming activity that crept downslope and drifted west-northwest and west southwest.

No crater glow was observed Saturday night.

It said Mayon's alert status remains at Alert Level 2, which means that the likelihood of a hazardous eruption within days to weeks has lessened.

But it said this does not mean the volcano’s unrest has ceased. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
