Vice-chancellor of
Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture University Munna Singh was honored with state’s highest award for excellence in education on Saturday. Chief minister
Akhilesh Yadav conferred the award in a ceremony at Lucknow.
A memento, a shawl and a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs was given to Singh. He got the award under biological science category. Singh said that he would be utilizing the cash prize for educational purposes.
“I have been given this award for excellence in education, therefore I have decided to use it for education purpose only. I will start a medal in the name of my parents in different schools and colleges from where I have gained education,” said Singh, who completed his primary and secondary education from Lucknow.
He will also donate some amount of cash prize to Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Druv Sen Singh,
professor of environmental science at
Lucknow University and GC Pandey, retired professor from
Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad, also received awards.
