Juvenile among two held for gangrape

Police said the woman, who knew one of the accused, had gone to his house to celebrate her birthday.

A domestic help was allegedly gangraped in South Delhi’s RK Puram on Friday night. One of the two accused is a minor, the police said. He has been apprehended. The other is 22 years old, who has been arrested, police said.

The woman, the police said, knew the 22-year-old. She had gone to his house to celebrate her birthday there. But the youth and his 17-year-old friend allegedly raped her.

“A case under Section 376 (rape) IPC was registered and the police arrested the youth and apprehended his friend. The woman was sent for a medical examination,” Deputy Commissioner of Pplice (South) Prem Nath said.

According to police, the woman came to Delhi from West Bengal over a year ago and got in touch with the accused, who runs a placement agency.

He had brought her to Delhi and helped her get a job as a domestic help. The police said the woman lives in her employer’s house. But on Friday, she took a day off and had gone to the accused’s place in RK Puram.
