Dena Bank beat PTM Kolhapur
Dena Bank combined well as a unit to script a deserving 3-1 win over PTM Kolhapur in a first round match of the sixth RCF Premier Cup Football Tournament - 2014, sponsored by Deserve Group, and played under floodlights at the RCF Ground, Chembur.
The tournament, organised by the RCF Colony Boys Krida & Sanskrutik Mandal is being conducted under the aegis of the MDFA. Local team Dena Bank had things under control and scored through Mario Fernandes, Pramod Yadav and Shoeb Vindani to seal their win and move to the quarter-finals. Rushikesh Methe scored for the Kolhapur outfit.
In other first round matches, Western Railway overcame Karnatak Sporting Association 5-3 via the tie-breaker after the scores were goalless during normal time, while Central Railway recorded a hardfought 3-2 win against Companeroes SC.
Ave Maria produce a strong second half performance to erase a one-goal deficit and register a 3-1 success over Companeroes SC in a Senior Division match of the MHAL League. Nilesh M, Naresh K and Sujeet S scored a goal each for the winners, while Companeroes reduced the margin through Ashutosh Shinde.
Agarwal wins it for income tax
Income Tax edged Soccer XI 1-0 in a wellcontested Super Division match of the MDFA League at St. Xavier’s ground, Parel yesterday. Shashank Agarwal struck the all-important winning goal to secure Income Tax’s win.
