A 31-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly posing as a drug inspector and trying to extort Rs 10,000 from an ayurvedic doctor in Palam Vihar.

GURGAON: A 31-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly posing as a drug inspector and trying to extort Rs 10,000 from an ayurvedic doctor in Palam Vihar.
The accused, Deepak Dhul, who is from Rohtak, said he had done Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from Rohtak and used the knowledge to cheat people by posing as a drug inspector, police said.
There is also a pending case of dowry harassment against him, the cops said.
According to police, Hari Prakash, who runs a clinic in Palam Vihar, had filed a complaint alleging that the accused had come to his clinic and demanded to see his degree certificates and clinic documents. On seeing the documents, Deepak said they were forged and demanded a sum of Rs 10,000 from Prakash, or threatened to get him booked.
Police said that Prakash then contacted owners of nearby drug stores, who claimed that a drug inspector had come there as well and had taken money from them. Prakash then called police who made the arrest at the clinic.
The accused has been booked for personating a public servant (Section 170), extortion (384), cheating (420), and criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the IPC. "He will be produced before a duty magistrate on Sunday," said Rajesh Kumar, ACP (crime), Gurgaon Police.
