World governing body Fifa has ordered Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to relocate to the Goal Project offices in Nairobi’s Kasarani area in the next one month.

Fifa has also expressed dissatisfaction with the way the Goal Project which was meant to house the federation’s secretariat has been neglected in recent years.

Fifa’s Development Officer for South and East Africa, Ashford Mamelodi, on Saturday said the federation should relocate to Kandanda House located at the Fifa Goal Project in Kasarani.

The federation has, since assuming office in October 2011, operated from rented Government offices at the Nyayo Stadium, apparently due to the deplorable state of Kandanda House where the secretariat is based. Kandanda House is next to the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani.

The federation inherited Kandanda House in deplorable state but watched on as the building became more deplorable.

Yesterday’s directive from Fifa, the second this year, has forced the federation to renovate the facility, reportedly to the tune of Sh4 million in anticipation of the relocation.

Fifa bankrolled the construction of the facility through its Goal Project Scheme to the tune of Sh35 million back in 2008, while the Government provided the five acre peace of land where the project sits.

ONGOING RENOVATIONS

“This is the home of football in Kenya, we are encouraged by ongoing renovations on this facility so am saying that just like other Fifa-funded projects in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Lesotho, the Kenyan FA has to relocate to this place within the shortest time possible,” Mamelodi emphasised.

He was speaking when he visited the Goal Project offices at Kasarani on Friday to supervise the ongoing renovations.

The facility has a 15-room secretariat, a board room, entertainment lobby, kitchen and dining hall, residential hostels and training pitches, which Fifa plans to further develop within the next year.
