Woman, 68, struck by car in Burnley dies

A 68-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a car while crossing a road in Burnley.

Lancashire Police said the accident happened on Brunshaw Road at about 18:00 GMT on Friday.

The woman, who was struck by a black Ford Focus, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but died on Saturday morning.

Officers closed the road for two hours for investigation work to be carried out. The force has appealed for witnesses.
