Jean-Eric Vergne is that latest driver heading to the Ferrari Formula One team. Ferrari announced that Pedro de la Rosa is vacating his test-driver post, and he will be replaced by former Toro Rosso driver Vergne.

Vergne's signing is the second driver signing of the week for Ferrari, which earlier added former Sauber driver Esteban Gutierrez to the team as a reserve driver for 2015.

Ferarri Vergne will work on car development in the simulator alongside fellow test drivers Marc Gene and Davide Rigon.

The move is the latest in a busy offseason for Ferrari, which has also reaplaced departing Fernando Alonso with four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel in the team's top seat. Kimi Raikkonen retains the team's No. 2 driver position.

"On behalf of the entire team, I welcome Jean-Eric, who I'm sure will make an important contribution to our development work in the simulator," said Ferrari's new team boss Maurizio Arrivabene.

As for the departing de la Rosa, Ferrari thanked the Spaniard for the work he has done over the past two years.
