The fact that this 1970s mega-hit now looks absurdly clunky and amateurish is completely beside the point. For a start, you don't even have to watch it - you just need to listen to the score to break out in a cold sweat. And it's also interesting to see, all these years down the track (39 years, if you really want to feel old) that although special effects may now exist in a different universe, Steven Spielberg's skill as a filmmaker was very much in evidence.

COMMANDO SCHOOL

8.30pm, SBS One

It's Monday night, so that can only mean one thing: Commando School. This time we're focusing on Recruit Greene, one of the few tertiary-educated blokes in the squad and a chap who – after a youth spent boozing and sucking on ciggies – is finding the physical demands of the training quite a challenge. As always, though, this is mostly a psychological story and in this ep most of these blokes are wondering why the hell they thought becoming a commando was a good idea in the first place.

After winning the Big Bash League last year, when Michael Klinger and Yasir Arafat lead the orange boys – aka Perth Scorchers - out tonight, they'll be looking to cement their position on the ladder and put the wind up the locals on their home ground. But to do that, they have to get past the Sixers, including Brett Lee. Expect fireworks.
