    Pulses trade firm in wholesale market

    In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local advanced to Rs 5,950-7,050 and Rs 7,400-7,600 from previous close of Rs 5,650-6,750 and Rs 7,100-7,300 per quintal.

    The wholesale market remained firm during the week as select pulses led by urad and moong extended gains following rising demand from retailers against tight supplies from producing belts.

    Marketmen said apart from rising demand from retailers, tight supplies from producing belts mainly kept urad and other pulse prices high.

    In addition, depreciating rupee against the US dollar that made imports costlier too pushed up select pulses prices.

    In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local advanced to Rs 5,950-7,050 and Rs 7,400-7,600 from previous close of Rs 5,650-6,750 and Rs 7,100-7,300 per quintal.

    Its dal best quality and dhoya strengthened to Rs 7,600- 8,200 and Rs 8,000-8,400 against last close of Rs 7,300-7,900 and Rs 7,700-8,100 per quintal, respectively.

    Moong edged higher to Rs 7,100-8,100 from previous level of Rs 6,750-7,750 per quintal. Its dal chilka local, dhoya local and best quality were up Rs 300 each to Rs 8,000-8,500, Rs 8,000-8,300 and Rs 8,800-8,900 per quintal, respectively.

    Masoor small and bold followed suit and moved up to Rs 6,000-6,200 each from previous levels of Rs 5,900-6,050 and Rs 5,950-6,050 per quintal, respectively.

    Its dal local and best quality gained another Rs 150 each to 6,950-7,050 and Rs 7,050-7,150 per quintal respectively.

    Moth rose by another Rs 300 to Rs 5,700-6,000, while arhar and its dal dara variety moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,100-5,200 and Rs 6,450-6,750 per quintal, respectively.

    In line with a general firming trend, gram climbed to Rs 3,100-3,850 from previous close of Rs 3,100-3,850 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality went up by Rs 200 each to Rs 3,800-4,000 and Rs 3,900-4,200 per quintal.

    Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani were quoted higher at Rs 1,450 each instead of Rs 1,430 per 35 kg bag, respectively.
