Compounder whose transfer BJP MLA sought involved in medicine embezzlement

JAIPUR: The male nurse (compounder), Vinod Kumar Maurya, whose transfer had been advocated by BJP MLA Prahlad Gunjal, has been allegedly found involved in embezzlement of medicines.
The CMHO gave in finally to the recommendation of the MLA and he had transferred Maurya to his place he wanted to by issuing directions on December 15.
According to the health department officials, during a surprise inspection on November 17, Maurya was allegedly found involved in embezzlement of 2,000 tablets of cefixime (100 mg).

Sangod's block chief medical officer (BCMO) Dr S D Sharma said, "I inspected Bapawar Kalan primary health centre (PHC) on November 17. Maurya was the store in-charge. When I see the medicine store records, I found that it was mentioned in the records that 1,000 tablets of cefixime was dispatched to the OPD on October 17 and 1,000 tablets of the same cefixime medicine on October 28."
The BCMO claimed that when he inquired into the matter, he found medicines were never dispatched to OPD of the PHC as it was not in the record books of the PHC. Moreover, when he had asked about prescriptions of the medicines, the OPD doctors also denied that they had prescribed the medicines to patients. "I asked him (Maurya) about the embezzlement of cefixime tablets, but he was unable to give a satisfactory reply on it. I sent a report to CMHO of the entire matter," Dr Sharma said.

Dr Sharma said the medicine is used for the treatment of pneumonia, cough and other respiratory infections among children.
Maurya was the same male nurse who was referred to in the telephonic call made by MLA Gunjal to CMHO Dr R N Yadav to give him a posting at Moi Kalan PHC.
Dr Yadav said the inquiry into the matter is in progress. "The BCMO inspected the PHC and he has sent the report and the inquiry into the matter is in progress."
Meanwhile, Gunjal allegedly called the CMHO and scolded him using abusive language and threatened him with dire consequences while demanding immediate posting of Maurya to Moi Kalan.
Dr Yadav said the MLA had called him on December 15 and soon after he received the call, he had issued the directions to the BCMO. A copy of the order is in possession of TOI, which says, "Vinod Kumar Maurya, nurse grade II PHC, Bapawar Kalan block, Sangod, has been shifted to Moi Kalan block, Sangod, on deputation till further orders."
Acting on the directions of CMHO, the BCMO issued directions on December 17 for reliving Maurya and sending him to Moi Kalan PHC with immediate effect. Copies of the orders are in possession of TOI.
