False pregnancy alarm for Rubina Ashraf

Veteran Pakistani actress Rubina Ashraf, currently seen as Shalia, who gets pregnant in her 50s, in Mera Saaya, faced a similar situation in real life a little less than a year before she was offered the role.
The show revolves around the reaction she gets from her children and society, once she tells them this news.
Cut to her real life: she had a false pregnancy and till the time it was detected, she faced a lot of backlash from her children and her friends, exactly what her character faces on the show.She was amazed when she was offered this role, as it was too coincidental to be true.
She says that since the same episode had happened to her in the recent past, she was able to relate well and identify with the character and the emotional turmoil it goes through. "I felt guilty as hell on not being careful enough and kept praying to God to not let it be," she says.
