A police driver was killed and two policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured in a freak mishap in Jashodanagar area of Ahmedabad on Friday, police said. The deceased police driver was identified as Mahesh Ramji. The injured included sub-inspector Mantak Kumar Thakor and constable Bhuraji Udayji, police added.

According to the police, the Vatva GIDC police with jeep (Bolero GJ 1 G 4804) were on patrol duty near Jashodanagar Crossings on Friday. They found a Tavera vehicle  moving suspiciously. When they started chasing it, the Tavera vehicle went on the wrong side of the road to evade from the police. The police driver also followed it on the wrong side. Suddenly he saw a dumper truck coming in the opposite direction.

In order to save the lives of his colleagues, the police driver turned the jeep left. Owing to the fog he could not see the tree there. The jeep crashed into the tree. The impact was very heavy that the jeep driver and two of his colleagues were reportedly thrown away.
