Since 2002 Tang’s Art Sdn Bhd has sold more five million pieces of gift wrapping paper. Over time, the company’s stable of 16 designers, have churned out 5,000 designs touching on popular themes ranging from Christmas to newborns to graduations.

Founder Hung Huei Huat, a 41-year-old Hainanese whose family runs a timber concern in Pahang can still recall the landscape for the gift wrapping industry when he started as a shareholder with A.E.I.O.U. Sdn Bhd in 1997. This company has since become Hung’s direct competitor.
