LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday took notice of the murder of a man and his wife by the woman’s family in Muridke.

The deceased, Mohsin, a resident of Shahdara, had earlier moved a petition in the LHC, stating that he had married Lubna without the consent of her family and that they had started living in Shahdara. Later, he said, his in-laws came to his home and took Lubna with them. They did not let her return to her husband’s home.

He had requested the LHC to order his wife’s recovery. The court had appointed a bailiff. Mohsin, the bailiff and a police team had gone to his in-laws’ house in Muridke and found Lubna there. When they were returning, they were attacked by a dozen armed men who kidnapped Mohsin and Lubna. Their bodies were later found from the nearby fields.

When the court resumed hearing of Mohsin’s petition on Friday (today), the bailiff informed it of the couple’s murder.

Justice Aalia Neelum of the LHC directed the Sheikhupura district police officer to present a report in the court about the incident on December 23.
