Rurban mission named after BJP icon

NEW DELHI: Yet another scheme is set to be launched in the name of a BJP icon. And it is another of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s priority programme – RURBAN.
The rural development ministry told Parliament on Friday that it has proposed a new mission called "S P Mookherjee Rurban Mission”. To a question asked by RJD MP Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav, the ministry said the Rurban mission will absorb the existing PURA (providing urban amenities to rural areas).
The prefixing of Mookherjee’s name to a new scheme comes after major government programmes having been named after Deen Dayal Upadhyay – like livelihood mission and the e-rickshaw scheme.
