Efforts on to secure release of abducted engineer in Nigeria

HYDERABAD: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has informed Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy that the Indian High Commission in Nigeria met Ministry of Foreign Affairs in that country and impressed upon the need for speedy action in securing the release of Tanguturi Srinivas Rao, who was abducted.

In a letter dated December 11, which was received by Mr. Raghunatha Reddy’s office on Friday, she said that the Indian mission was in constant touch with the Police Commissioner of Bayelsa State, Nigeria and also the CMD of the company in which Mr. Rao was working. “They indicated that he has been spoken to and is safe. Mission officials are following up the matter”, she added.

Official sources here said that efforts were continuing to secure safe release of Mr. Rao.
