400 police personnel to run task force
AHMEDABAD: Cyber Suraksha Kavach (CSK), which is formed to keep an eye on cyber domains, will expand its strength in coming years. The task force, which was launched with a team of less than 100 officers, led by an officer of inspector general rank, will now have more than 400 officers.
According to sources, the officials associated with the force have suggested the home department to make some changes in the state IT rules and amend the IT Act to make them more effective.
“We will be appointing only those police officers who are willing to join CSK. We don’t want CSK to be considered as a punishment posting,” said a top official. “We will acquire special apparatus and software for CSK which will help us in keeping an eye on criminal activities on the internet,” the official added. CSK will set up a cyber laboratory with modern digital investigation tools and equipments to conduct investigations on computers and other hardware seized from accused,” added a top police official.
The officials are in touch with a few foreign countries for technical help in setting up devices which will be acquired for digital intelligence.
In the later stages, CSK will also conduct awareness programmes for general public and internships for youngsters to counter cyber challenges.
